Meet Dr. Erik Boudreau, Men’s Health Naturopath in Vancouver

Sometimes you know something is not quite right, but it is easy to keep putting off dealing with it.

You may be getting through the day, but your energy is not what it used to be. Your digestion is unpredictable. Your joints hurt more than they should. You feel anxious, distracted, burnt out, or mentally foggy. Perhaps your partner has been encouraging you to make an appointment for months.

Local Health Integrative Clinic is pleased to introduce Dr. Erik Boudreau, ND, a Vancouver naturopathic doctor with more than 20 years of clinical experience.

Dr. Boudreau focuses on men’s health, hormone concerns, digestive health, anxiety, depression, ADHD, brain fog, fatigue, joint pain, and sports injuries. His approach is practical and individualized, combining established naturopathic methods with current clinical research.

Healthcare for People Who Are Ready for a Clear Plan

Many patients come to Dr. Boudreau because they are tired of guessing.

They may have tried changing their diet, buying supplements, resting more, exercising differently, or simply hoping the concern will resolve on its own. They may have test results they do not fully understand or several symptoms that have never been considered together.

Rather than focusing only on a single symptom, Dr. Boudreau takes time to review the broader picture. This can include your medical history, current symptoms, medications, supplements, activity level, sleep, stress, nutrition, previous injuries, and personal health goals.

From there, he works with you to identify factors that may be contributing to how you feel and outlines treatment options that fit your situation.

Men’s Health and Hormone Concerns

Low energy, changes in mood, reduced strength, poor sleep, decreased libido, difficulty concentrating, and changes in body composition can have many possible causes.

While these symptoms are sometimes connected to testosterone or other hormones, they may also be influenced by stress, sleep, nutrition, medications, mental health, metabolic health, or another medical concern.

Dr. Boudreau provides individualized naturopathic care for men who want a closer look at their health. When appropriate, this may include laboratory testing, a review of hormone levels, nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, and coordination with other medical providers.

The goal is not to assume that every concern is caused by low testosterone. It is to understand what is happening and determine appropriate next steps.

Anxiety, Depression, ADHD and Burnout

Mental health concerns do not always look the same from one person to the next.

Anxiety may show up as irritability, poor sleep, muscle tension, digestive discomfort, or difficulty switching off. Depression may feel like low motivation, fatigue, disconnection, or losing interest in activities you once enjoyed. ADHD can affect focus, organization, emotional regulation, sleep, and the ability to manage daily demands.

Dr. Boudreau supports patients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, burnout, and brain fog by looking at the physical and lifestyle factors that may be affecting mental well-being.

Naturopathic medicine is not a replacement for emergency mental health care, prescribed treatment, psychiatry, or clinical counselling. It may be used as one part of a broader care plan, particularly when sleep, nutrition, hormones, digestion, fatigue, or other physical concerns are also involved.

Digestive Health Without the Guesswork

Bloating, abdominal discomfort, irregular bowel movements, reflux, food reactions, and other digestive symptoms can interfere with work, sleep, exercise, travel, and social plans.

Dr. Boudreau works with patients to examine possible contributors to digestive concerns rather than immediately handing them a long list of foods to avoid.

An assessment may consider:

  • When symptoms began
  • Foods or situations that appear to trigger them
  • Stress and sleep patterns
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Previous testing or diagnoses
  • Eating habits and nutritional intake
  • Other symptoms occurring at the same time

Testing or treatment recommendations are made according to the patient’s symptoms and medical history.

Joint Pain, Injuries and Staying Active

Joint and muscle pain can make it harder to exercise, work, sleep, play sports, or keep up with family life. It can also become frustrating when rest provides only temporary relief.

As a former certified personal trainer, Dr. Boudreau understands how movement, strength, recovery, and injury can affect overall health.

He frequently works with patients experiencing sports injuries, recurring joint pain, muscle concerns, and reduced mobility. Depending on the assessment, care may include exercise and recovery recommendations, acupuncture, nutritional support, or injection therapies such as prolotherapy when appropriate.

You can learn more about available treatments on Local Health’s Naturopathic Sports Medicine page.

More Than 20 Years of Clinical Experience

Dr. Boudreau has worked with a wide range of patients during more than two decades as a licensed naturopathic doctor.

This includes five years working at an integrative cancer treatment centre in the United States. In that setting, he provided natural and supportive care alongside medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, and other conventional healthcare providers.

That experience helped shape his collaborative approach. Naturopathic care does not need to be separated from conventional medicine. When appropriate, it can be used alongside a patient’s existing medical treatment and healthcare team.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your first appointment with Dr. Boudreau is a one-hour visit focused on understanding the full picture of your health.

During the appointment, you will review:

  • Your primary health concerns
  • Your medical and family history
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Previous test results and treatments
  • Sleep, nutrition, stress, exercise, and lifestyle
  • Injuries or physical limitations
  • Your priorities and health goals

Dr. Boudreau will then explain possible treatment options, testing considerations, and recommended next steps.

You do not need to arrive with the right medical terms or a perfectly organized list of symptoms. Bring any relevant test results and a current list of medications and supplements, and be prepared to talk honestly about what has been bothering you.

Appointments That Fit a Busy Schedule

Dr. Boudreau offers both in-person and telemedicine appointments.

In-person appointments are available at Local Health Integrative Clinic on Wednesday afternoons and evenings and on Saturdays. Telemedicine appointments provide another option for patients who cannot easily come to the clinic.
