Craniosacral Therapy

Jill Truscott

Craniosacral therapy is is an anatomically precise yet holistic form of bodywork. This gentle hands-on therapy aims to release restrictions in the system and enhance the body's self-healing abilities. During a CST session, the therapist uses light touch to feel for areas of tension or restriction in the craniosacral system. They may use various techniques such as gentle pressure or traction to release these restrictions and restore the natural movement and rhythm of the system. In this work, we connect with the Craniosacral system, consisting of soft tissue and fluid that protect, feed and detoxify our brain and spinal cord that articulate with every other system as a whole.

It can treat physical, spiritual and mental/emotional imbalances, encouraging the body to relax, unwind, and release. The effects can be profound and issues can be worked on at a level that many other manual techniques cannot reach. Craniosacral therapy is based on the principle that the body has an inherent capacity for self-correction and healing. By facilitating this process, CST may help alleviate a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, stress, headaches, inflammation, autoimmune, trauma from impact, anxiety, digestive disorders and more.

Craniosacral therapy takes place with the client fully clothed and comfortable on the table. Many people feel part of their body soften, or gently shift and spread. Breathing patterns may change. It's common to experience a deep feeling of relaxation.
